Best song competition
Interfax Information Services reports that Igor Trofimov, the head of the Sergius of Radonezh and Manas Generous public organization announced that the competition for the best song against the presence of the U.S. military base in Kyrgyzstan has started. Trofimov told journalists:
The final of the contest will take place at a rally in protest of the presence of the U.S. base on the territory of the Manas airport near Bishkek in late April 2008. The prize will be awarded then as well.
He announced the prize for the best song, which is $200. Trofimov added:
Surely, Kyrgyz rock and rap singers will back the idea.
Trofimov has also said that on February 29 the public organization will claim the Kyrgyz government and the president to deal with the need to invalidate the contract for the presence of the Manas airbase in Kyrgyzstan in the Bishkek city Court. This claim was filed last spring.

You are very right that the Americans are in Kyr to have a forward base against Russia and China.
But they are not there to ‘help’, ‘protect’ or ’save’ the Kyrgyz or Kyrgyzstan. Don’t be naive. They’re not your friends or brothers. They only thing they do is buy the Kyrgyz off. Yes they pay a very high price of the airport, i.e. lining the pockets of the ultra-corrupt kafir ‘elite’ which has basically ruined the country.

Yes, I am sure that the Russian and Chinese military are up late at night, sleepless due to the presence of 1,000 US soldiers and some refueling planes in Bishkek (insert eyeroll here).
The base is spartan at best, no threat to either Russia or China, and at the moment at least, gives Kyrgyzstan some much needed cash. It serves to support efforts in Afghanistan. If you feel the US shouldn’t be helping fight the Taliban, then by all means - protest the base and kick the US out. If you feel the small US presence in Kyrgyzstan is a terrible detriment to the country, then also protest and kick the US out.
By the way, Ataman Rakin - Kyrgyzstan was a mess long before the US showed up. If anything, US presence there has helped the country gain more international attention for its problems.
