Few comments on the referendum

As all of you know, on 21st of October the Kyrgyz government held a referendum on whether or not to accept the new constitution. The importance of the referendum was that all citizens around the world could vote; thus, throwing one piece of sand to any side of the scales, one of which had to be overweighed. The result is known now, and some of us would be inquisitive about how the result was come to being. Some friends of mine who live in different regions of the country told me about the referendum. The facts were not satisfactory; nevertheless, disregarding that they were my friends I might not to believe them since I had not been there myself. As for me, using my right to choose I went to make my so-called “obligation”. This event took place in another country (not necessary to indicate). During those 15 minutes I was inspecting the voters, the local administration and the atmosphere of the referendum in that small room. What surprised me is that many of the voters were not sufficiently informed about the differences of two constitutions. When I asked about it, the reply immediately was given: “We sent via e-mail the link…” If you were a bit were worried about the differences between “the two”, definitely you should have searched some information in the internet. Moreover, probably you visited “www.24.kg” where the list describing the differences could be downloaded. I did, but I could not distinguish anything at all. Maybe I am not enough educated for political science, but this reality should be taken into consideration – the people understand when they read something ordinary. Maybe there were some other sources of information, who knows?

This unfavorable fact has to be accepted; the voters were playing a “gamble”, some came to see their friends. In other words, the room was the destination for their further entertainment. So upsetting, but factual. You are to remember what happened when you went for voting.

yes, Aibeque, it is a shame that people vote for what they have no clue about. i also heard many stories that voters just go and vote without knowing the difference between two versions of the constitution and how one or another is going to change their lives.
