It’s happened! Finally, one of the greatest singers of Russia’s pop-music stage, originally from Bishkek, Svetlana Nazarenko, the lead singer of the band Gorod 312, was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Artist of Kyrgyz Republic.”

Svetlana Nazarenko, aka Aya, was born and grew up in Frunze (Bishkek), Kyrgyzstan. She is one of the few people who are really representating Kyrgyzstan to the Russian speaking world. At Gorod 312’s performances one may hear people saying that they have never paid much attention Kyrgyzstan before, and that they are glad that Kyrgyzstan is sharing such talented people with the world. It is always great to hear such nice comments about Kyrgyzstan.

During the awarding, the state secretary Adahan Madumarov said,

We are proud that our compatriot is winning many music awards in the Russian Federation. We are especially glad that when the name of the band is announced, we hear code of Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. Kyrgyz citizens should always be directly connected and never out of reach. (Gorod 312 has a famous song on the soundtrack for the film “Piter FM” called Vne Zony Dostupa (Out of Reach.)

Today is Nooruz, a holiday of spring. There are celebrations all around Kyrgyzstan. People are preparing sumolok (a national meal), singing national songs and playing national games. Everyone has been waiting for this day for a very long time. This day was especially anticipated by citizens and guests of Bishkek citizens, as they have one more reason to celebrate this day. Today, at 20:00 Gorod 312 is giving a big concert in the main square of Bishkek. The concert is free, as it is sponsored by MegaCom, one of the leading mobile phone companies in Kyrgyzstan.

The organizers of the concert say that people who come to the concert will not regret it as it will be a big show that they will remember for their entire life. Along with Gorod 312, many other artists of Kyrgyz music will participate in the concert.

Yesterday I happened to be at the concert, which was a great experience. Svetlana has sweet voice and lots of enthusiasm, as it was not so easy to benefit to a great show when it is raining and lots of drunk people try to approach you making thouse weird sounds… Last song “Ostanus” was accompanied with heavy rain, fireworks and words of Svetlana Nazarenko that she will always remain for us “Gorod 312″…
