What follows here is roundup of the blogging activity for the past week. The posts reviewed originally appeared in Russian and were provided by NewEurasia contributors.

Alieva this week continued following the debates between secret services of Kyrgyzstan, who decided to wage war against extremists, and some of the Kyrgyz politicians accusing law enforcement representatives in inflating unnecessary tensions in the country. Thus, according to the information of the Service of National Security, terrorists are preparing a so-called “war with no rules” where the main goal is to seize cities and villages and than use people there as a shield in the continuing fight.

Though, a number of Kyrgyz politicians have expressed their concerns over the actions of SNS, arguing that the latest actions of Kyrgyz law enforcement forces are instigating public outrage among ethnic Uzbeks in the south of Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz ombudsmen Tursunbai Bakir uulu shared dissatisfaction with the collaboration of Kyrgyz and Uzbek Special Forces stressing that their operations remind him of witch-hunt. Official representatives of Kyrgyz SNS, though, denied all allegations, stressing that with an increasing danger of extremism and terrorism they are acting in accordance with law and use preventative tactics and strategies.

Some of the rhetoric of the Kyrgyz ombudsmen is also discussed in my post especially dedicated to the activities of Tursunbai Bakir uulu during several past years. Discussion was triggered by the official announcement that Kyrgyz ombudsmen issued as a reaction to the speech of the American president. The bottom line of the story is that Kyrgyz ombudsmen called off his participation in the conference organized in the US because of his outrage with George Bush’s definition of terrorists as “Islamic fascists”. I’m analyzing the roots of the ombudsman’s outrage and sharing my view on his activities in general.

Edil Baysalov, the head of the coalition for Democracy and civil Society, on his personal blog was discussing the incident involving American military forces in the Kyrgyz airport “Manas” where the forces of the anti terrorist coalition are located as well. Edil quotes an information piece of the Aki Press news agency. As it is stated there on August 17,2006 American van on the ground smashed one of the airplanes TU-154 which belonged to the Kyrgyzstan. Edil explores the polemic over the incident, emphasizing that 32 $ thousand should become a subject of political bargaining.
