		<description>Yeah, I saw the Registan post, and it makes some good points.

Re: Freedom House; rankings are rankings - not the end-all be-all indicator for a country, but good information to take into account in addition to everything else.

Optimism for optimism's sake is pointless, but I'm a lot more worried about the news coming out of pretty much every other country in the region.  Plus, I think sometimes we forget just how rocky democracy can be at the start, even for countries that turn out relatively well.</description>
